Introducing myself, and more importantly this blog

31 Aug

One day at the beginning of 2012 I decided to become a hardcore travel freak. So over 2012 I did just that. I had been on many trips before this. But I have never been as interested in truly seeing other cultures until this year. I have been on three trips this year and am going on many more in my future. This year I went to Washington DC, Scotland, and San Francisco. These may not be the most exotic places on earth to an American like myself but they were great starts. In 2013 I will be going to Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia. This blog is intended to provide my insight into where I have traveled and my experiences, and some advice for others so they know how to enjoy places.

I’ve realized over this year Travel means different things to different people. To some the most important aspect of traveling somewhere is getting away from your normal life. Others love the sense of adventure and going somewhere new. To me, travel is about getting a sense of the world. It is one of my beliefs that you haven’t seen your own country until you’ve seen other countries. Think about it this way: If you stay in America all your life, assuming it is the greatest country on earth and that it’s not necessary to go to other places, well how do you know America is the greatest country on earth? You really need to see both your country and other countries to get a sense of your own. You need the comparison so you know your country’s place in the world, and about what your country does better or worse than others.

Anyway that’s why I think travel is important.
